Member of Parliament for South Tongu, Kobena Mensah Wayome has called on the government and relevant authorities to provide stimulus package for clubs ahead of the resumption of the various leagues.
The government and football stakeholders are still considering the appropriate time for the resumption of football in the country but the Ranking Member on Parliamentary Select Committee on Sports believes that clubs will be cash-trap ahead of the resumption hence they need to be supported.
“For the fact that the law on social distancing is still in place and we will not be having our spectators moving in their numbers to go and watch, there will be the need as quickly as possible for some good stimulus package to support these teams to be able to pay for their cost of moving from one place to other”.
“Hotels and then allowances and salaries over a period in order for them to bring football back and get to when life becomes normal”, he told Joy Sports in Accra as quoted by footballwrap.com.
