Former Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie has officially distanced himself from the vacant CEO position at Asante Kotoko saying he is engaged elsewhere.
The former Ghana FA number 2 who unsuccessfully run to become president of the governing body of football in the country announced the decision in a press release dated 18 June 2020.
Several media reports have linked the Liberty Professionals sports director to the hot position at Ghana’s most successful football club and according to George Afriyie he could not be available for consideration should there be even official approach from the club of Otumfor Osei Tutu II.
The experienced Ghana football personality also revealed he continues to receive calls behind the scenes from faithfuls of the club to take up the position.
“Kotoko is a great club and would want to serve one day. But I want to state that I have currently taken up a commitment which would not permit me to take up the role” he said in the statement.
