Ghanaian midfielder Alhassan Wakaso has officially signed a one-year contract extension with Indonesian club Semen Padang FC, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2025 season.
The experienced defensive midfielder, who joined the Liga 1 outfit last season, has proven to be a key figure in the team’s midfield setup, earning praise for his tenacity, work rate, and leadership qualities.
Wakaso’s extension comes as a major boost for Semen Padang, who are aiming to strengthen their squad stability ahead of the upcoming campaign. The club confirmed the deal via its official communication channels, expressing confidence in Wakaso’s continued influence both on and off the pitch.
The 32-year-old, younger brother of fellow Ghana international Mubarak Wakaso, has enjoyed a rich career that has seen him play in Portugal, France, and Romania for clubs such as Rio Ave, Lorient, and FC Sochaux.
Since arriving in Indonesia, Wakaso has brought a wealth of international experience and added bite to Semen Padang’s midfield. His ability to break up play and dictate tempo has made him one of the club’s most consistent performers.
Wakaso, who has previously featured for the Ghana national team, is expected to play a crucial role as Semen Padang look to improve on their league finish and possibly push for silverware next season.
