The CAF Champions League second leg game between Al-Hilal Omdurman and Asante Kotoko was called off by Rwanda referee Luis Hakizimana after eight players of the Ghanaian team tested positive for Covid-19.
The Porcupine Warriors have however challenged the results and a formal complaint have been lodged with CAF through the Ghana Football Association.
“Asante Kotoko has officially petitioned CAF and we patiently await verdict” Kotoko acting head of Communications tweeted.
” NB! The minimum number of team players required for a CAFCL match is 15. Asante Kotoko travelled with a list of 22 players” the Kotoko spokesman added.
“Out of which 8 players are alleged to be Covid Positive therefore reducing the minimum squad size to 14players ( that falls short of the required squad size ). Kindly Stay informed. ”
