French Ligue 2 side Amiens SC have officially announced the signing of Ghana international Nicholas Opoku on a season-long loan deal from Italian Serie A side Udinese.
The giant center-back featured for Amiens in the second half of last season as they suffered relegation from the French elite division.
Opoku was initially on the radar of Metz but the Ligue 1 club dropped their interest in him after signing their long-term target Kiki Kouyate from Troyes.
A statement over the confirmation of the re-signing of the former Ghana U20 defender reads:
“Amiens SC are pleased to announce the return to the club of Nicholas Opoku . Already loaned to Amiens SC last season, Nicholas Opoku returns to Picardy for this new 2020-2021 season,”
“The 23-year-old Ghanaian international, who belongs to Udinese, therefore comes to strengthen the defense of Luka Elsner. He had already played 7 games as a holder when he was on loan at the start of 2020 before the end of the championship,”
Welcome home Nicholas!,”

He becomes the second Ghanaian player to join the club after former Dreams FC midfielder Emmanuel Lomotey signed for them earlier this month in the ongoing transfer window.
