Slovenian champions Olympia Ljubljana have confirmed the signing of Ghanaian right-winger Kelvin Ofori from Slovak side Slovan Bratislava to bolster their attacking options.
The 24-year-old joins the Ljubljana-based club on an initial loan deal, with Olimpija holding an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.
The fast-footed Ofori began his football career at the renowned Ghanaian academy Right to Dream. His talent was quickly recognized in Europe and a move to Germany followed. There he continued his development at Fortuna Düsseldorf and Paderborn. He has made his biggest mark so far in Slovakia, where he first played for Spartak Trnava and then for the most successful Slovak club Slovan, from where he is now moving to Ljubljana.
“I am very happy to have signed for Olimpija. It is a great club that has welcomed me warmly. This season I want to help the team with as many goals and assists as possible, so that at the end of the season we can look forward to winning the cup and qualifying for Europe.” said Ofori after signing the deal.
“As a player, I like one-on-one situations, I am skilled in passing and I finish dangerously in the attacking third. I hope that the fans will soon support us in as many numbers as possible and enjoy attacking football.”
Sporting director Goran Boromisa welcomed him, saying: “Kelvin is the profile of the player we were looking for in this transfer window. We needed speed and penetration on the wings, but he is also a player who is good at the number ten position. I am pleased that he will be able to complete the entire preparation in Spain with the team. Now the club is already looking for the next reinforcements to be as successful as possible in the second part of the season.”
The Ghanaian winger is expected to add pace and creativity to Olimpija’s frontline as the club pushes for success domestically and in Europe.
According to Transfermarkt, Ofori’s current market value stands at €900,000.
