Few people could have imagined that after five games into the season Karela United would be leading the Ghana Premier League standings unbeaten. But it is what it is.
The team coached by Evans Adottey and assisted by Stephen Abugri are the leaders of the league with eleven points – one more than their closest challengers, WAFA.
It all started with a convincing 2-2 draw at Obuasi Ashantigold on opening day of the season and from it is this performance that served as the springboard for the Anyinase side to even achiever better results. Inter Allies, Dreams FC and now King Faisal all have gone to the CAM Park and left with nothing.
Allies were beaten 1-0 thanks to a goal from danger man Diawisie Taylor. Dreams FC lost 2-1 over there and Faisal left Anyinase defeated 2-0.
Taylor is the topscorer of the side on 3 goals in 5 games but he is not the only top performer of the team. Midfielders Sadiq Alhassan, Osei Franklyn and defender Godfred Yeboah have equally been impressive thus far.
Not even Hearts of Oak who were in search of a first win of the season could floor Karela United in Accra.
How far do you think Karela United can go still on top of the league table?
