Victor Osimhen, Wilfred Ndidi, and Ademola Lookman powered Nigeria into the last 16 of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations despite a late fightback from Tunisia in Group C.
The Super Eagles looked firmly in control after taking a three-goal lead in the match played in Fes. Osimhen opened the scoring just before halftime, before Ndidi and Lookman extended Nigeria’s advantage early in the second half.
Tunisia, however, mounted a strong late response. Montassar Talbi pulled one back with a header, and Ali Abdi converted a late penalty after a video review awarded the North Africans a spot kick, setting up a tense finish.
Despite the pressure, Nigeria held on to secure a 3-2 victory, moving to six points and confirming qualification to the knockout stage with a game to spare. The result also guarantees Nigeria top spot in Group C.
Tunisia remain on three points and still have a chance of advancing, with their final group match set to decide their fate.
Nigeria will next face Uganda, while Tunisia take on Tanzania as the group stage continues.
