Black Stars coach, Otto Addo, has dismissed reports that Nottingham Forest winger Callum Hudson-Odoi was being considered for Ghana’s upcoming matches against Mali and the Central African Republic.
The former Chelsea star has been linked with a potential switch to the Black Stars after three years of not featuring for England, following FIFA’s new rules allowing players with less than three international caps to change their nationality.
However, Addo has denied any involvement in the process, stating that no formal invitation has been extended to Hudson-Odoi.
“So far not yet. Also heard people saying Hudson-Odoi has been invited. To me, nobody came to me so far but we are open to anybody who wants to join,” he told 3 Sports.
Despite the denial, Addo expressed Ghana’s willingness to consider any player who wants to join the team, including the highly talented winger.
“We are open to anybody who wants to join. If somebody wants to join, a special player like him, we are always open,” Addo told 3 Sports.
Addo led the Black Stars to back-to-back victories in the World Cup qualifiers against Mali and the Central African Republic, and will look to build on this momentum with his current squad in upcoming matches.
