Black Stars head coach Otto Addo is preparing to unveil the squad for Ghana’s upcoming international friendlies against Austria and Germany as part of preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Ghana will face Austria on Friday, March 27, 2026, at the Ernst Happel Stadium, with kickoff scheduled for 17:00 GMT. The team will then travel to Germany for a second friendly against the 2014 World Cup winners on Monday, March 30, in Stuttgart.
The Black Stars technical team is expected to name a strong lineup for both fixtures, aiming to fine-tune tactics and player combinations ahead of the global tournament. These matches will provide crucial opportunities for players to stake their claim for a place in the World Cup squad.
Looking further ahead, Ghana will also face Mexico in May and conclude their pre-World Cup preparations with a friendly against Wales on June 2.
Ghana, preparing for their fifth World Cup appearance, have been drawn in Group L alongside Panama, England, and Croatia.
Their group stage campaign kicks off against Panama on June 17, followed by England on June 23, and concludes against Croatia on June 27.
After early exits in the 2014 and 2022 tournaments, the Black Stars are determined to deliver a more competitive and resilient performance on North American soil.
The upcoming friendlies against Austria and Germany will be key for assessing players, strategies, and team cohesion as Ghana looks to make a mark in the 2026 World Cup.
This announcement is highly anticipated by fans and media alike, with many keen to see which players Otto Addo will rely on to lead the team in their quest for World Cup success.
