The GFA Communications director, Henry Asante Twum, has clearly stated that there’s no way Ghanaian clubs can perform very well in Africa competitions if they are weak financially.
Henry Asante threw more lights as to the reason why he insists that the Ghana Football economy is weak and therefore why our teams fail on the continent.
“The transfer market value of Al Ahly SC players which is around $100m and Al Hilal striker Vinny Bongonga Kombe who scored against Kotoko was signed for $200k to make a solid foundation against the financial strength of Ghanaian teams.”
“Let’s honestly ask ourselves that how many players among Kotoko current generation worth more than $150k. So football goes beyond playing on the pitch. To attract quality, you have to be quality”, he told Kumasi-based Kessben FM in an Interview.
So it is not just enough being Hearts of Oat, Medeama or Kotoko, Mr Henry Asante Twum added.
The GFA Communications director, quickly suggested that Ghanaian clubs must position themselves very well to be able to attract quality materials which the relevance of good money is non-negotiable.
Nevertheless, as I speak the industry Ghana football is not in good standing and this is without dissimulation.
