Asante Kotoko head coach Zdrako Lugarusic admits his side did not play any beautiful game on Sunday despite their 2-1 win over Liberty Professionals in their GPL opener at the Baba Yara sports stadium.
The former Ashanti Gold SC trainer says left to his tactics alone Kotoko would have conceded not less than 2 goals in the first half but states it was ”individual quality” that did the magic for his team.
Kotoko came from a goal down to commence their season with a home after beating visitors Liberty Professionals by two goals to one. Yakubu Mohammed drew level for Kotoko back from recess through a spot kick before netting his second goal for the day few minutes later.
Addressing the media at a presser after the Porcupine warriors 2-1 victory over the Scientific Soccer Lads the Croatians tactician indicated that his side could have conceded at least two goals in the first half having been overshadowed by the away team in the first forty-five minutes.
”Liberty caused us troubles throughout and could’ve been 2-0 up inside the first minute in the 2nd half. Our individual quality saved us” said Lugarusic.
