Crystal Palace boss Patrick Vieira has lauded Ghanaian attacker Jordan Ayew following the 2-2 draw Southampton at Selhurst Park on Wednesday night.
Ayew, who had gone 47 games without a goal was on target in the 65th minute as he connected beautifully inside the box to pull even for his side in the 65th minute ,
Vieira who had kept faith in the Ghanaian forward despite calls from fans for him to be benched was elated as he commended Ayew for his selfless style of play.
“I think when he had his opportunity the focus was on what he’s doing for the team. He’s sacrificing himself for the team, working hard for the team. This is what we need and want. Goals will come.” Vieira told his club’s website
“What was important for us was we how can we create chances to allow him to be in a good opportunity to score. He was unlucky against Manchester United and in other games but today he was in the right place, took his chance and scored. This is really good for him and the team and hopefully there is more to come.” He added.
Ayew is expected to play a key role again on Saturday when the Eagles travel to Vicarage Road to face Watford.
