PHOTOS: Black Meteors depart Accra for Japan & South Korea friendlies

Ghana’s Olympic team- Black Meteors have left Ghana for their two international friendlies against Japan and South later this month.

Coach Paa Kwesi and his boys left Accra on Tuesday evening for the two friendlies.

The Black Meteors failed to qualify for the Olympic soccer after loosing on penalties to Egypt in the U-23 AFCON last year.

The team has been training for about two weeks at the Ghanaman Soccer Center of Excellence in Prampram.

Head coach of the Meteors Paa Kwasi Fabin will use the games to access the strength and weaknesses of his team as he [Paa Kwasi] prepares a strong side towards the forthcoming All African Games which is scheduled to be staged in Ghana in 2023.

Japan and South Korea however, will use the friendly matches to access their team ahead of the Olympics which comes off in June this year.

Ghana will play Japan in two friendly matches scheduled for June 4 and 8, 2021 in Tokyo before travelling to South Korea to play on June 12 and 15, 2021.

Below is the U-23 full squad who left the shores of Ghana:

Defenders: Samuel Ashie Quaye (Great Olympics), Frank Assinki (HB Koge), Frank Amoabeng (Cerignola), Ibrahim Moro (Asante Kotoko), Uzair Alhassan (Tamale Utrecht), Abdulai Sabit (Getafe CF)

Midfielders: Emmanuel Essiam (Berekum Chelsea), Frimpong Boateng (King Faisal), Patrick Mensah (Heart of Lions), Kwame Adubofuor Poku (Colchester United), Osman Bukari (Genk)

Forwards: Jonah Attuquaye (Legon Cities), Percious Boah (Dreams FC), Samuel Obeng Gyabaa (Real Oviedo), Joselpho Barnes (Shalkeh 04), Diawusie Taylor (Karela United FC), Samuel Boakye (Eleven Wonders)
