Planners Athletic Club were among the most improved sides in the entire Division One League before the COVID-19 freeze on the season.
Coach Emmanuel Bulley’s charges went on a stupendous run whipping Accra Young Wise 3-0 before thumping Agbozume Weavers 2-0 both at the adopted home grounds in Dansoman.
Meanwhile the Executioners remained resolute in away fixtures as they picked three draws against Amidaus Professionals at the Tema Park before letting Krystal Palace off the hook in Akosombo in a highly-entertaining fixture. Phar Ranger, who are the best in Zone III in the last five game count, were lucky to escaped with a point at their own backyards.
Planners have undergone credible revival under the tutelage of Bulley who replaced Desmond Deku. Planners would scaled to a top four berth had they kept their focus at Amidaus Professionals and Krystal Palace.
Only Phar Rangers, Kotoku Royals, Heart of Lions, Accra Lions and Uncle T United FC have outperformed Planners.
Bulley has built a watertight defence with Nana Opare Agyemang, Philip Gameli, Vitus Yamoah and Emmanuel McCarthy along with makeshift options Samuel Johnson, Joshua Karbo and Yussif Oduro. This defence has conceded only two in the last five matches while the attack led by Eric Abdul Razak Kipo has produced 7 goals.
Only 5 teams in Zone III amassed more points than Planners in the last five fixtures. Phar Rangers are the most improved side in the zone after going unbeaten in the five game count (11pts) – winning three and drawing two – Planners the only side to halt them in their tracks before the break.
Uncle T United FC suffered an early hiccup but bounced back to win three games on a row before drawing their last game to give them 10 points.
Accra Lions and Heart of Lions both lost a game each but won three and and drew one.
Planners left Amidaus Professionals and Krystal Palace off the hook after succumbing to last-gasp draws.
