Former New York City FC midfielder Kwadwo Poku, says it’s a great privilege for him to be playing alongside Major League Soccer world-class players like Frank Lampard and Andrea Pirlo.
Kwadwo Poku,26, who due to his super talent was reportedly approached by United States coach,Jurgen Klinsmann to switch nationality following his impressive performance in the MLS for New York City FC currently plays for US low-tier side Tampa Bay Rowdies.
He joined them from Russian top-flight giants Anzhi Makhachkala in the summer transfer.
”Playing with world-class players like Andrea Pirlo,Frank James Lampard and David Villa as a young player coming at New York City is a great opportunity l never had,” he told Kumasi based Angel FM.
Speaking on his career and why he decided to switch camps from New York to Miami FC he highlighted ”I joined Miami FC due to the fact that l was fighting the same position with Lampard who at time was on loan from Manchester City,and as seniority counts in football l had to pave the way for him, for me to also gain more playing time elsewhere,” he said.
The ‘exciting to watch’ attacking midfielder has equally featured for Georgia Revolution FC and Atlanta Silverbacks,all in the States and gained his first national call-up on 10 October, 2015 in a 1-1 drew friendly against Canada where he was introduced in the game as a sub to play 8 minutes.
