Head Coach of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, Charles Kwablan Akunnor, has expressed extreme satisfaction and admiration for his left back, Daniel Darkwa after impressing in Kotoko’s whipping of Nkana FC by three(3)goal to nil.
Darkwa, who had his first and only start in Kotoko’s Confederations Cup campaign, was occasioned by the absence of club captain, Amos Frimpong, on disciplinary grounds.
Amos, had accumulated a total of two yellow cards in the group stages of the tournament.
Coach Akunnor, despite having the option of playing, Evans Owusu, who has been an integral part of the team, opted for an injury returnee, Daniel Darkwa, who until today had played zero minutes for the fabulous lads.
Darkwa greatly impressed in the game assisting Emmanuel Gyamfi to the second goal of the game.
Besides such efforts, his composure, calmness, alertness to threat, silky touch of pass and defensive awareness got the fans thrown into a limitless ecstacy.
Speaking after the game, Akunnor, who could not hide his joy about his ‘newbie’ performance remarked,’ Daniel Darkwa was a risk, but sometimes you need to take that risk,I am proud of the young man, I thought he would not last the full ninety but he did, said an impressed Akunnor.
Kotoko will look forward to unseat AL Hilal in the group standings when they clash at the dreaded Baba Yara sports stadium come Sunday, the 10th of March, 2019.
