President of the Republic of Ghana, His Excellency Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has congratulated boxer, Samuel Takyi following his exploits at the ongoing Olympic Games.
Takyi, despite losing the semi-final bout against America’s Duke Ragan won a bronze medal, the first medal the country has won at the games since last doing so in 1992.
The 20-year-old went into the semi final fight in high confidence but his capabilities were only second to Ragan’s experience, as he lost with a 4-1 score.

His achievement has been recognised by the president of the land, Akufo-Addo, who congratulated Takyi through his social media platform.
The first gentleman of the land wrote on his Facebook page: “Big congratulations to Samuel Takyi from all of us at home, for hoisting high the flag of Ghana at the Tokyo Olympics, and for winning a bronze medal, Ghana’s first Olympic medal in 29 years. Well done.”
