Former Ghana international Prince Tagoe has emphasized the importance of rewarding footballers for their hard work, insisting that paying appearance fees and bonuses should never be a point of contention.
Speaking on Sporty FM, the ex-Black Stars forward argued that financial recognition is a fundamental part of professional football. “Paying players appearance fees and bonuses should never be an issue. Everyone who works hard to become a professional deserves his money,” Tagoe said.
Tagoe’s comments reflect on ongoing debates in Ghanaian football regarding delayed payments and disputes over player remuneration. For him, compensating players fairly is not just a contractual obligation—it is a measure of respect for their dedication and sacrifices on and off the pitch.
The former striker, who represented Ghana on the world stage, including at the 2010 FIFA World Cup, also noted that bonuses and appearance fees can serve as motivation for players to perform at their best, creating a positive cycle of professionalism and reward.
