Ghana Coach Jame Kwesi Appiah has named debutant Edwin Gyasi in his 24-man squad for next month’s crucial 2018 World Cup qualifiers against Congo and here are ten things you need to know about the powerful winger.
1. Edwin Gyas is an offensive midfielder and plies his football trade with Norwegian top flight side Aalesund FK.
2.He started his football career at the age of 7 with CTO 70 Academy in Amstersdam and FC Amsterdam Academy before he was picked by AZ Alkmaar Academy.
3.He was offered his first professional contract at AX Alkmaar where he was loaned to SC Telstar.
4.He also had a short stint with BV De Graafschap before joining FC Twente and later Heracles Almelo.
5.In Holland, Gyasi had stints with Dutch Eredivisie side Roda JC, FC Twente and Heracles Almelo.
6. After Heracles Almero he moved to last club in Holland Roda JC Kerkrade before switching camp to Norway to join Aalesund FK.
7.He also featured for FC Twente in the 2014 Europa League where he played against the likes of Levante, Hannove.
8.He engineered Roda JC’s return to the Dutch Eredivisie two seasons ago after being relegated to the first division in 2014 together with junior brother Raymond Gyasi of Stabaek fame also in Norway.
9.Gyasi, 26, has hit top form for Norwegian side Aalesund FK since joining them from Dutch side Roda JC last season.
10.The prolific winger has scored 9 goals in 34 matches for Aalesund FK in the Norway League.
