Legon Cities head coach, Samuel Paa Kwesi Fabin, has voiced his frustration with the officiating standards in the ongoing Ghana Premier League.
His concerns come after his team suffered a 3-1 defeat against Berekum Chelsea in a week 7 match at Golden City Park on Sunday.
Fabin felt that the referees made questionable decisions that negatively impacted his team, contributing to their poor result. “I will plead with referees in the Ghana Premier League to be fair to us. We were denied a clear penalty after the equalizing goal, and these are game changers,” he said, expressing his disappointment.
The match saw Berekum Chelsea open the scoring early with a goal from Emmanuel Sarpong in the 16th minute. Legon Cities quickly responded, leveling the game two minutes later through Suraje Yusif Kamal.
However, further goals from Stephen Amankona and Hubert Gyau sealed the win for Berekum Chelsea.
The defeat continues a difficult run for Legon Cities, who have managed just one draw and five losses in their six matches this season.
In contrast, Berekum Chelsea are performing well, currently sitting 4th on the league table with 13 points, while Legon Cities are struggling at the bottom with only one point.
