Former English centre-back Rio Ferdinand is known to be the biggest fan of Nigerian superstar Victor Osimhen. The former Manchester United centre-back, speaking to Australian tennis star Nick Kyrgios for talkSport UK about his view on Gyokeres almost certain joining Arsenal and Galatasaray bidding for Osimhen, Ferdinand did not care about the Swedish star going to North London, but Osimhen’s offer from Galatasaray bothered him.
“I’m like a broken record. If anyone listens to my podcast, I’ve said Osimhen for a while now,” Ferdinand said.
“He’s a centre-forward, he’s experienced, he knows how to score goals at the top level.
“I’ve seen today that Galatasaray has put a £50million bid in.
“I mean, £50m to get a top-class striker, one of the top strikers in the world, is absolute peanuts in today’s market.
“I’ll be disappointed if he goes to Galatasaray for that type of money when Man United are crying out for a No.9”
“But if we got Osimhen, then I wouldn’t be too concerned,” he concluded.
The Red Devils approached Osimhen on Monday morning and asked him to reduce his wages. The Nigerian and his entourage quickly rejected the offer.
Napoli has a 75M euros release clause for Osimhen and might accept something a bit lower. Galatasaray bid 50m euros on Monday evening but it was immediately rejected by the Italians who see it as very low.
Manchester United lost the race for Gyokwres to Arsenal and are in a hunt for a striker after Rasmus Hoijlund failed to deliver in the just-ended season.
Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal still has an interest in Osimhen as they are ready to activate his 75m euros release clause but Victor wants to stay in Europe for now.
