The next big gathering of the Legitimate Football Heads in Nigeria is expected to be in December, 13th to be precise, and that NFF Annual General Assembly will determine several important decisions including the kick off date for the 2016-17 NPFL Season.
The 63-year-old German Tactician has assured he will pick players, predominantly, from the Nigeria Professional Football League for his first official International friendly match.
Rohr disclosed, after Nigeria’s 3-1 win over Algeria on Saturday, that the Super Eagles will face Egypt in Dubai.
The Pharaohs, who return to the Africa Cup of Nations after missing out on 3 editions of the Tournament, will prepare for the continental showpiece in Gabon next year with a friendly against Nigeria – Héctor Cúper’s men stopped Nigeria from reaching the 2017 Afcon. Drawing 1-1 in Katsina and 1-0 at the Borg El Arab Stadium in Alexandria.
A date for the friendly has not been decided.
Rohr has given very little consideration to the home based players since taking charge of the Super Eagles and recently defended his decision to exclude them from the World Cup qualifier against Algeria – though goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa was named as a substitute .
The Eagles Gaffer said he couldn’t select the home based because they have been inactive since the conclusion of the 2015-16 season in October.
