Former Ghanaian defender Dan Quaye says Ronaldinho Gaucho was always going to make it big in football as he noticed his talent when they crossed path in the finals of the 1997 Under 17 World Cup in Egypt.
Quaye who marked the Brazilian legend that day revealed that he put the brakes on him that day though he was optimistic that the former Barcelona player will go on to rule world football.
“Aziz Ansah, Godwin Attram, Awuley Quaye and Yakubu Abubakar(late) were in the squad that represented the country in Egypt”
“I played against Ronaldinho in that tournament when he was just 16 years. He’s a difficult player to tackle but I was able to handle him, I’m not surprised he went on to becoming the world’s best player” Quaye told Ashaiman TV
Ghana lost the finals against Brazil by two goals to one as the South Americans lifted their first trophy ever on African soil.
