Ryan Kelly McAidoo is one of the most exciting young talents emerging from Manchester City’s famed academy, drawing attention for both his club performances and rich cultural heritage.

Early Life and Background

Born on 24 June 2008 in Harlow, Essex, Ryan McAidoo is currently 17 years old. He grew up in a supportive family with strong ties to the Ghanaian community, with his parents — Kwame and Freda McAidoo — proudly watching his rise through the ranks.

Age, Height and Nationality
McAidoo is 17 years old and stands at approximately 1.74 m (5′9″) tall, combining agility and pace on the wing. Although he was born and raised in England and represents England internationally at youth level, he remains eligible to play for Ghana thanks to his heritage.

Club Career and Transfers

McAidoo’s football journey began in the youth academy at Colchester United before he moved to Chelsea’s youth setup. In the summer of 2024, he made a high‑profile switch to Manchester City’s academy, a move that highlighted his rising stock among elite English prospects.

At City, McAidoo quickly made his mark. In his first full season with the Under‑18s, he scored 10 goals in 19 appearances, helping the team win the Under‑18 Premier League North title. He also impressed in European youth competition, contributing across nine UEFA Youth League matches as City reached the quarter‑finals.

In January 2026, McAidoo earned a memorable senior debut for Manchester City in the FA Cup, scoring in a 10–1 victory over Exeter City, becoming the first academy player to feature for City in that season’s competition and leaving supporters excited about his potential.

International Career

Though McAidoo has featured for England’s youth teams — playing for the U16s and U17s, including at the 2025 FIFA U‑17 World Cup — his Ghanaian roots mean he could choose to represent Ghana at senior level in the future.

Style of Play

A left‑footed winger known for his dribbling ability, McAidoo brings directness and creativity to the attack. His pace and ball‑carrying skills allow him to challenge defenders and create chances, making him one of the most watched young prospects in City’s development system.
