South African Premier League side Free State Stars are closing in on signing Ghanaian midfielder, Mumuni Abubakar, with a view to adding him to their roster for the 2017/18 season according to report by soccerladuma.
The 24-year-old spent the 2016/17 season playing for Black Leopards in the National First Division. The indication from sources close to Ea Lla Koto is that the player has been identified as a transfer target for the team, with the club believed to be in the process of finalising his move to the Free State for next season.
“Mumuni Abubakar is close to joining Free State Stars. His move to the club is good as done,” a source told the southafrican website.
Abubakar first arrived in South Africa in 2012, when he was signed by Mamelodi Sundowns from New Edubiase of Ghana.
However, the player struggled to break into the star-studded team at Sundowns. Apart from a stint with Vasco da Gama, Abubakar spent most of his time in Mzansi playing for Lidoda Duvha.
With his contract with the Limpopo outfit set to expire at the end of the month, Abubakar is expected to join Ea Lla Koto as a free agent.
