Saddick Adams‘ hat trick gave Asante Kotoko SC victory over Hearts of Oak in the grand finale of the 2017 edition of the MTN FA Cup played in Tamale.
The pacy attacker gave the Porcupine warriors an early lead in the 2nd minute before converting a penalty to double Kotoko’s lead.
Emmanuel Gyamfi’s pace caused problems for Hearts of Oak on the right as he broke free early on and supplied a pass to Adams.
Richard Akrofi could not stop Adams as he maintained his composure inside the box and calmly planted the ball behind the on-rushing Ben Mensah’s net.
Hearts got their consolation goal after their break when Thomas Abbey headed home from a Fatawu Mohammed’s left cross but the Phobians could not complete their comeback as they slipped to defeat.
Hearts piled pressure with Patrick Razak and Kwame Kizito all coming close with brilliant displays but their efforts were not enough as they could not score again before the game ended.
Asante Kotoko will represent Ghana in next year’s CAF Confederation Cup competition.
