Sami Trabelsi has been relieved of his duties as head coach of Tunisia following the Carthage Eagles’ early exit from the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
The decision comes after Tunisia failed to reach the AFCON quarter-finals once again, extending a worrying trend for the North African side. It marks the sixth time in their last eight AFCON appearances that Tunisia have been knocked out before the last eight stage.
Tunisia’s latest disappointment has reignited concerns over the team’s performances at major tournaments, despite often entering competitions as one of the favourites. The inability to progress deep into the tournament has put sustained pressure on the technical team.
With Trabelsi’s departure confirmed, attention now turns to the Tunisian Football Federation as it looks to rebuild and find a new direction capable of restoring the Carthage Eagles to their former continental strength.
