Berekum Chelsea coach Samuel Boadu has characterized their recent match against Accra Lions as a challenging encounter in the Ghana Premier League.
The game, held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium, ended in a 1-1 draw, with Accra Lions initially taking the lead through a goal from Ali Mohammed, only to see Stephen Amonkona equalize just three minutes later.
Boadu noted the significance of the result, especially considering that last season, the Berekum Blues suffered a heavy defeat to the Lions during their away match. “It was a very difficult game. Accra Lions have young players who are energetic, and they possess a strong technical team,” he remarked after the match.
He further acknowledged the quality of the opposition’s transitional play, emphasizing the need for his team to effectively mark their threats. “What I can say is that there is a lot of improvement. Last season, Accra Lions beat Berekum Chelsea 5-0 at Sogakope. Coming into this game, we prepared well, and I told the players to focus on playing as a team.”
Currently, Berekum Chelsea sits fifth in the league standings with ten points and will be looking to build on this performance in their upcoming home match against Legon Cities.
