Communication director of the Ghana football association Ibrahim Sannie Daara has jumped to the defence of Black stars Coach Avram Grant’s relaxation to name a squad for the upcoming AFCON.
With less than a month to the start of the African’s elite international football tournament, the Black Stars coach is yet to even name a provisional squad for the tourney.
The Communication director of the GFA has been explaining the rational behind Grant’s delay though participating nations like Uganda, Gabon and others have all named their squads.
Sannie addressing media men at the GFA headquarters in Accra explained, Grant has been slow to name a squad because he doesn’t want to name a squad early where a player will later sustain an injury hence he ( Avram ) is waiting for the players to play their final games for their various clubs before the Christmas break to avoid any unexpected circumstances with regards to injuries.
The 2017 Gabon AFCON is scheduled to commence on 14th January. Ghana is grouped alongside Mali, Egypt and Uganda.
