Former Black Stars captain Stephen Appiah has been considered to pick up a welfare role at the senior national football team of Ghana sportsworldghana.com understands.
Our sources within the leadership of the Ghana Football Association [GFA] have hinted the federation will be dissolving the backroom staff of the outgone coach, Avram Grant.
Avram Grant’s contract with the Black Stars as the head coach of the team expired last february which the FA is certain to announce a new coach for the team in march.
The football association of Ghana opened application for qualified coaches early march 2017 with a deadline of 10th march 2017 inspite of a committee set up by the federation to head-hunt.
After the deadline on the 10th, over 72 coaches worldwide applied for the vacant position of which 3% of the candidates applied being Ghanaians.
Our sources clearly points out the vacant position will be handed to a Ghanaian coach ahead of the many expats who applied for the job.
An insider at the hierarchy of the federation has revealed ex coach of the side who qualified Ghana for the last FIFA World Cup in Brazil Kwesi Appiah stands a pole position to be named very soon.
The insider added the Ibrahim Tanko looks likely to deputize Kwesi as the old backroom staff will be disbanded.
