One game that was keenly followed by football enthusiasts and supporters were that of Asokwa Deportivo SC and Swedru All Blacks game at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
The One player who was exceptionally good and impressive on the day was youngster, Samuel Obeng who played as a left-back on the day for the Allah is Great Boys.
The gifted left-footed versatile player was arguably the most important player for Asokwa Deportivo SC in their narrow home win over the Swedru lads with a blistering performance that captured the eyes of many football fans at the stadium.
Obeng, 16, is a promising and talented player who according to the fans who were present at the stadium should be playing in the national U17 who are currently playing in the WAFU Zone B U17 tournament in Togo.
The Asokwa Deportivo youngster has every qualities a young lad needs to be able to play in the juvenile national teams and his performance has raised concerns about the scouting system of the Ghana FA and their ability to identify a raw talent who could be unearthed to become a future star.
Obeng’s ability to hold onto play at tight and difficult situations and his capabilities to surge forward to join the attack from left-back and his awareness and understanding of the game is unquestionable and have already started attracting big clubs whose scout were present at the stadium.
The 16-year-old Deportivo player has been playing in the Division One League since last season in the truncated league and has been constantly playing exceptionally well which should be enough to earn him a call-up to represent Ghana at the U17 level.
Against All Blacks at the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium, the young chap was a delight to watch throughout the match with his accuracy in passing and his enormous experience at a very young age at the level he is playing.
Obeng, 16, should be given a chance to exhibit his enormous talents at the Black Starlets after his impressive and consistent performance in the Ghanaian second-tier league.
