The charges of the Obuasi-based club are currently under the microscope of scouts from the European country.
Ashanti Gold Sporting Club Bankroller Dr. Kwaku Frimpong has revealed that scouts from Scotland are in to recruit talented players from his side.
The garrulous football administrator has vowed to restore the lost pride of the once heavyweight giants on the local scene and has kicked-start his mission since he assumed office this term.
The four-time Ghanaian champions were tipped to represent the country for the forthcoming 2018/19 Caf Champions League competition, but decided to pull the plug on the contest at the eleventh hour.
However, the club’s chief has explained their decision to back off the competition in their bid to trade players from the domestic top-flight.
“”We had wanted to go to Africa and they said we weren’t going anymore, so we called our scouts from Scotland and they’re here and asking for players,” “Champion” as he is affectionately called told Accra-based Happy FM.
He added: “If they say they want players and you say we won’t go to Africa, we can’t stop, we are doing business, so we have to sell our players and forget about the Africa,”
“These are very big scouts, they are taking more players from us and I think that’s the opportunity so we have taken a big chance on that,”
AshGold were table toppers of the truncated 2017/18 Ghana Premier League for the first stanza of the campaign.
