Ghana Premier League giants Asante Kotoko came from a goal down to thrash Burkinabe side Save African Child 3-1 in an international friendly played at the Baba Yara Stadium on Sunday.
Austin Uzo score first for SAC FC after three minutes of action but Kotoko Kotoko restored parity 17 minutes later courtesy an own goal scored by Tapsoba Mohammed.
Striker Fredrick Boateng struck nine minutes later to put the Porcupines in front before half time.
Back from recess, the game became very crunchy as sides struggled to create decent scoring opportunities.
Nonetheless, Kotoko continued tormenting the visitors and finally grabbed the third goal through another own goal scored by Amos Benedict.
Substitute Jordan Opuku was shown a red card by referee Maxwell Owusu in the 88th minute following a reckless challenge against a Save African Child player.
The friendly marks Charles Akonnor’s first victory as Asante Kotoko manager.
Kotoko on Friday were defeated 3-0 by Ghana’s Black Stars team in a friendly following the cancellation of the 2019 AFCON Qualifier clash with Sierra Leone by CAF.
Akonnor commended his players but wants his team to improve in the area of defence.
“It was an improved performance as against the game against the Black Stars and I think the boys did well. You cans ee we created the chances like against the Black Stars the chances were there. Today was same we created the chances and that is good.” said C.K Akonnor in a post match presser.
“But we have to be better organized at the back. If you look at the goal we conceded it was due to a lack of concentration from our defence. ” he added.
