The initial contract of the 27-year-old was expected to expire this summer but he has penned down a fresh one-year deal with the German fourth tier side.
Shaibou has netted six goals and provided seven assists for Oberhausen in the Regionalliga West League this season and has been one of their best players so far this campaign.
Born to a Togolese father and a Ghanaian mother in Tchamba, he is eligible to represent both countries though he is yet to be capped at any level.
He previously played for clubs including St. Kickers II, SGV Freiberg and TV Nell all in the German lower ranks.
