Ghanaian players Rahim Ibrahim and Sharani Zuberu played vital roles in helping Slovan Bratislava capture the 2024/25 Slovak Super Liga title, marking a historic achievement for both the club and the duo.
Slovan secured the championship in thrilling fashion, coming from behind to earn a dramatic 4-3 victory over MSK Zilina at the Tehelne Pole Stadium on Saturday. The triumph sealed their seventh straight league title, further asserting their dominance in Slovak football.
The match began unfavorably for Slovan, with Cameroonian midfielder Xavier Adang netting twice in the 18th and 26th minutes to give Zilina a 2-0 lead. Although David Strelec pulled one back, Zilina restored their advantage through Mario Sauer in the 39th minute. Veteran winger Robert Mak narrowed the deficit just before halftime to keep Slovan within reach.
In the second half, Strelec took center stage, completing a brilliant hat-trick with two quick goals that turned the contest on its head and secured the win for Slovan in front of an elated home crowd.
Ibrahim started the game and delivered a solid performance in midfield before being substituted in the 80th minute for Julius Szoke. At the same time, Zuberu entered the match in place of Mak to help close out the victory.
Since joining in January, Ibrahim has made 10 appearances, contributing a goal and an assist. Zuberu has featured more prominently this season, tallying two goals and one assist in 20 outings. Their contributions have been instrumental in Slovan’s successful title campaign.
