Coach Charles Kwablan Akonnor has only been paid three out of fourteen months in charge of Ghana’s senior national team- Black Stars.
The former Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak coach took charge of four games, winning two against Sudan, Sao Tome, a draw against South Africa, and also losing one-nil to Sudan.
Before the former Ghan captain took over from his former boss Kwasi Appiah in January 2020, Appiah had played the first opening two against South Africa and Sao Tome, winning all the two games.
Ghana, four-time African Champions ended the 2021 Afcon qualifiers in a style after beating Sao Tome and Principe 3-1 on Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium to book a ticket to next year’s Afcon which will be staged in Cameroon.
However, reports filed by Ghanaweb indicate that Akonnor who has been in charge of the Black Stars team for 14 months, has only been paid just three months with the payment coming in three months ago.
Akonnor who signed a two-year deal with the Ghana Football Association was put on a monthly salary of $25,000. However, he has not been paid his eleven months entitlements.
Despite being paid the first tranche of his money in January this year, the Ghana gaffer is yet to see his Bank accounts credited for the last two months, bringing to totality a shocking eleven months of salary arrears.
Meanwhile, Akonnor is also yet to be given an official apartment where he will reside, something his former boss Kwasi Appiah enjoyed.
