Captain of Kumasi Asante Kotoko SC, Amos Frimpong has stated winning the African Champions league with the current generation of players is within reach for them.
The Workerholic defender speaking at the 81st birthday of the club on wednesday explained that, rampant player exodus from Kumasi Asante Kotoko is the reason to the club’s abysmal performance in African competitions in recent times.
“We have not been consistent as expected of us so i am taking this opportunity to apologize to the supporters and to also tell them that the three matches left in the ongoing league, everything can happen” Said Frimpong.
“They should support us (the playing body) with prayers so that we can finish on a very good note.
From this season onwards we the players are not going to be in haste to travel abroad looking for clubs there, we will make sure to stay and play together to familiarise well to be able to see that dream of winning the African Cup come through” he added.
The last time Kumasi Asante Kotoko African won a major trophy in Africa dates back in the year 1983, after that, the closest they have come was in 2004 when their greatest rivals in Ghana beat in them in the final of the African Confederation cup.
