The Bafana Bafana of South Africa will welcome Ghana to the Soccer City Stadium for a 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Monday at the FnB Stadium, and Bordeaux defender Gideon Mensah will replace Reading man Baba Rahman at the left-back position.
Raham is part of the five players who did not travel to South Africa due to coronavirus travel restrictions.
South Africa is placed on the COVID-19 red list England and the player will have to isolate for 10 days when he returns to his club if he travels to South Africa.
Mensah will play in the absence of Baba Rahman who started and lasted full 90 minutes in Ghana’s narrow 1-0 win against Ethiopia last Friday at the Cape Coast Stadium.
CK Akonnor’s team will be hoping to at least leave South Africa with a point in their attempt to qualify for their fourth World Cup appearance.
After missing the 2018 event in Russia, Ghana has set their sights on returning to the World Cup. The Black Stars reached the world showpiece in Germany 2006 where they were making their first appearance. They then went on to reach the Round of 16. They secured a qualification ticket for the South African 2010 edition.
