The Nkawkaw stadium is the home grounds of former elite football side, Okwahu United.

The project forms part of the government’s broader programme on Sports Infrastructure Development (SID) across the country.

”We give thanks to the almighty God and secondly to Nana Addo. The President has promised to put into shape facilities that have deteriorated. We are done with Accra Sports Stadium and work is ongoing at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium in Kumasi,” the sector minister told as quoted by Hello FM.

”We used to have some traditional pitches including the Nkawkaw Stadium which was an Interesting center and one of the backbones of Ghana football but we all know its state wow.

”So the President has decided to give it a facelift. That’s why we are here with the likes of the Chief Executive Officer of the Middle belt development Authority, Joe Danquah who is supporting us with money to cut sod to reconstruct it and this is the total reconstruction and not renovations.

”We are going to start altogether because there’s nothing here. It’s a Multipurpose facility because other games like Taekwondo and the rest will be done here too.

”I am very much happy that very soon people at Nkawkaw will get the facility back to serve the purpose of which we are putting it up. The atmosphere is serene, and would not be surprised the Black Stars of Ghana will one day come for camping here.

”I know in the future more talents and stars bill be produced from Nkawkaw and the whole Okwahu vicinity.

”It’s not here alone that we are going to reconstruct. From here we are moving to known facilities like the Gyendu Park, Kpando, and the rest.

”I can say this is a timely intervention by the Government because gradually people were taking over the lands of the Nkawkaw Stadium.
