The Black Satellites of Ghana have been assured of being rewarded by the Ministry of Youth and Sport for winning gold for the nation at the just ended WAFU Zone B Championship held in Benin.
The Ghana U20 team came from a goal down to beat the Young Stallion of Burkina Faso 2-1 to emerge as the ultimate winners of the tournament.
Two goals from Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and Percious Boah saw Ghana defeating favorites Burkina Faso to lift the trophy after Koume Botue puts the Young Stallions in front under 16 minutes.
Following their victory at the 7th edition of the WAFU Zone B tournament, the Ministry of Youth and Sports have decided to reward the young lads for making the nation proud.
Chief Accountant of the MoYS, Emmanuel Oteng who was addressing the team at the M-Plaza Hotel on Sunday on behalf of the Sports Minister, applauded the whole team and assured them of all their privileges soon.
He further stated that the Sports Minister – Hon. Isaac Asiamah – has guaranteed that the same reward package given to the Champions of 2017 WAFU Tournament will be given to the team.
“Ghana is proud of you and so is the Sports Minister. Congratulations for this wonderful feat and be assured that everything due you will be given to you,” Oteng told the players and the technical team.
“The Minister has asked us to inform you that the package that was given to the team for winning the 2017 WAFU Tournament is the same that will be given to you”, he added.
The current Champions are set to receive $100,000 from the Ministry of Youth and Sports.
Team Leader of the delegation from the Sports Ministry, Kofi Asare Brako, who doubles as the Special Assistant of the Minister also commended the team and encouraged them to make aim high for the AFCON next year in Mauritania.
