Ghanaian and for that matter, African footballers have no confidence issues, Asante Kotoko Head Coach, Steven Polack has stated.
According to him, footballers in Ghana and across the continent have the ability to do anything they are tasked to do.
Thus, coaches in Ghana and Africa, need not underestimate the capabilities of their players.
Asante Kotoko overpowered their arch-rivals Hearts of Oak 4-1 on penalties to lift the 2017 President Cup. Accessing his players’ mental toughness, the undefeated Steven Polack disagreed with suggestions that, “Black players” have low confidence. “I don’t understand why people go around saying African players have low confidence. I disagree” said Polack.
“The confidence is there. They have strong confidence that can drive them forward” he said.
He maintained that, coaches around African players shouldn’t look down on them adding that, staying positive around players increase their mentality.
“With no disrespect to any coach around; you need to bring out the best in players by staying positive and instill a sense of belief and faith in them. By doing that, the players have no reason not to succeed” said the Asante Kotoko trainer.
