Former Ghana Football Association vice president George Afriyie has criticised Kurt Okraku following the dismissal of Otto Addo as head coach of the Ghana national football team.
In a strongly worded reaction, Afriyie questioned both the timing and the decision-making process that led to Addo’s removal, urging the GFA president to be more receptive to advice.
“Boss, sometimes just listen to advice and stop the Matry Makw3. Why now?” Afriyie remarked, expressing frustration over what he perceives as avoidable instability within the national team setup.

Addo’s dismissal comes on the back of a difficult international window, where Ghana suffered a heavy defeat to Austria before falling 2-1 to Germany in Stuttgart—results that intensified scrutiny on the technical team ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Afriyie’s comments reflect growing concerns among stakeholders about the direction of the Black Stars, particularly with the tournament fast approaching. He suggested that such a major decision should have been better timed to avoid disrupting preparations.
The outspoken football administrator has been a long-time critic of certain decisions under Okraku’s leadership and believes that greater consultation could help steer Ghana football in a more stable direction.
With Addo now out of the picture, attention shifts to the Ghana Football Association and its next move, as the search for a new head coach begins under mounting pressure to restore confidence and competitiveness within the Black Stars camp.
