Dutch-born forward of Ghanaian descent Cody Mathès Gakpo has been offered a long-term contract extension by Eredivisie giants PSV Eindhoven, keeping him at the club until 2025.
Gakpo has now made 70 appearances, scoring 17 goals and providing 17 assists.
The 21-year old striker who was born and raised in the city of Eindhoven, has this campaign registered seven goals in 11 matches for Roger Schmidt’s side.
Speaking to PSV TV, Gakpo said, “I am super proud of course, just like my family. It’s been long, but I feel at home and at ease here.”
“Of course it plays a role that I feel good here, but it also fits in with the step-by-step plan that I have made for my own career with the people around me.”
The highly-talented striker rose from the club’s youth side Jong PSV two years ago after scoring 17 times in 26 matches.
He has gone ahead to become PSV Eindhoven’s first-team starter and goal machine since his promotion from the youth side at age 18.
Gakpo has represented the Netherlands U18, U19, U20, and U21 but still eligible to play for Ghana or Togo in the future.
He was born to a Ghanaian father and a Togolese mother in Eindhoven.
