The Division One League match between B.A United and Real Tamale United (R.T.U) at the Sunyani Coronation Park on 4th July 2021 was ended abruptly as referee Maxwell Hanson was physically assaulted by section of the fans.
The man in Black had awarded a penalty against the home team but later withdrew his decision something that sparked controversy between the fans of B.A United and those of R.T.U and now the GFA has said that it has started the process to get the irate fans arrested.
“That the Executive Council would like to place on record that the GFA has submitted footage of the unfortunate incident to the Ghana Police in Sunyani to assist them investigate and to effect the necessary arrest and prosecution of all persons identified in the footage who were engaged in the criminal assault of the match officials, destroying property and dragging the game in the mud. The GFA is urging members of the general public with any video which may be useful to the Ghana Police Service to kindly submit same to the Association or the Police.” the GFA Executive Council said in a statement released on Thursday.
