A key member of the Asante Kotoko Board, Kwadwo Boateng Gyamfi, has on behalf of his team, rendered an unqualified apology to the club’s supporters following their Super Clash 1-0 loss to arch-rivals Accra Hearts of Oak last Sunday at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Speaking in an interview with Kumasi 104.1 FM, the Business mogul formally apologised to the club fans for their inability to beat Hearts of Oak, urging them to keep supporting the club.
The Porcupines could have climbed to the summit of the table with only three games remaining in the league. However, Afriyie Barnieh’s 64th-minute brilliant strike denied them a win, raising doubts over their title credentials.
“We will apology to our supporters and tell them, it’s football which has three outcomes (win, lose or draw), we were unfortunate to have lost, we didn’t get our game by squandering chances that came our way especially Augustine Okrah’s own,” he said.
He continued: “I will entreat all fans to calm down and see what is ahead of us, leave the defeat behind, and continue to support the club. Though we are Directors of the club but also supporters of the club, we find it difficult to eat when the team loses a game.”
“As you know, the season has been difficult for us, playing our matches away from home so we have done well, therefore, we should not discourage the playing bodies and the technical team, it’s football, anything is possible.” He ended.
