English-born Ghanaian defender Terrel Agyemang has joined National League side Morecambe FC on a season-long loan from Middlesbrough ahead of the 2025/26 campaign.

The 22-year-old, primarily a right-back but also comfortable in central midfield, becomes Morecambe’s 14th signing of the summer transfer window. His arrival is part of the club’s major squad overhaul following its recent takeover by Punjab Warriors.

Manager Ashvir Singh Johal expressed delight at securing Agyemang, highlighting his quality and pedigree at youth and senior levels.

“Terrel is someone I have known for a long time, back when he was a young player at Charlton. He was later bought by Manchester City and was part of one of the best under-21 teams in the country, helping them win the Premier League 2 title. He then joined Middlesbrough, where he gained first-team experience, as well as spells in the National League and Scotland,” Johal told the club’s media team.

Agyemang began his career at Charlton Athletic before sealing a move to Manchester City, where he was part of the title-winning U21 side in 2023. Middlesbrough snapped him up shortly after, later loaning him to Hartlepool to continue his development.

Johal believes Agyemang’s work ethic and personality will make him an ideal addition to the Shrimps’ setup.
“First and foremost, he is a very hard worker and has a fantastic personality. He fits the environment we are trying to build here and will suit our style of play. We’re looking forward to seeing how he settles into the team this season,” he added.
