Ghana captain Jordan Ayew has expressed his delight with the performance of the Black Stars’ emerging talents following their emphatic 4-0 victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the Unity Cup.
The match, played at the Gtech Community Stadium in Brentford, saw head coach Otto Addo make sweeping changes to the lineup, giving several young players a chance to shine. Among those handed starting roles were Mohammed Fuseini, Lawrence Agyekum, Christopher Baah Bonsu, and Nations FC captain Razak Simpson.
The youthful Black Stars side rose to the occasion, with Ayew leading by example. The Crystal Palace forward opened the scoring and provided two assists in a commanding display. Mohammed Fuseini, Razak Simpson, and Lawrence Agyekum all marked their senior national team debuts with goals, highlighting the depth of emerging talent in the squad.
Speaking after the match, Ayew commended the youngsters for making the most of their opportunity.
“We approached the game really well. We made the game look simple but it wasn’t simple. The players did well — the young ones really did well,” Ayew said. “Some of them really took their opportunities and I’m happy for them. They just need to keep pushing, keep believing in themselves, and keep putting in performances like this.”
The result secured a third-place finish for Ghana in the Unity Cup tournament. The Black Stars will next regroup in September when they resume their campaign in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
