Former Ghana international Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has appealed to Ghanaians to rally behind the Ghana national football team technical team as preparations intensify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Ghana have secured qualification for what will be their fifth appearance at the global tournament, earning one of Africa’s nine automatic slots. In a bid to strengthen the backroom staff ahead of the competition, the Ghana Football Association recently expanded the technical team with several experienced additions.

French tactician Alain Ravera and Kim Lars Bjorkegren, who also handles the Black Queens, have been appointed as assistant coaches. Spanish analyst Jose Daniel Martinez Alfonso joins to enhance scouting and match analysis.

Meanwhile, physiotherapist Carlos Lozano Romero, who worked with the team during the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, makes a return. British-born Ghanaian performance coach Dwayne Peasah Paa Kwesi has also been added to complete the revamped technical setup.

Despite mixed reactions from sections of the public, Agyemang-Badu believes this is not the moment for criticism. He stressed that the FA understands the team’s needs and should be trusted in its decision to reinforce the technical bench.

According to him, with only a few months left before the tournament, unity, patience, and collective support are crucial if the Black Stars are to make a meaningful impact on the global stage.

The 2026 World Cup, to be co-hosted by the United States, Canada, and Mexico, will feature an expanded 48-team format. Ghana have been drawn in Group L alongside the England national football team, the Croatia national football team, and the Panama national football team, setting up an exciting challenge for the West African side.
