AshantiGold interim coach, Thomas Duah has revealed that the club’s inability to take chances in front of goal was the rationale behind their trophy-less season in the just ended campaign.
Ashgold ended last season in the ninth with 45 points, 16 points behind eventual league winners Accra Hearts of Oak and 10 points behind the top four places.
Duah, who guided the club to the tale end of the season has however pointed out lack of firepower in front of goal for the Miners poor season, despite playing some good football throughout the 2020/21 season.
Speaking to Kumasi-based Ashh FM, the interim manager said: “We lacked the bite upfront to complement our wonderful play in the just ended season.”
Despite the lack of effectiveness Duah complained about, the coach also lauded the performances of Amos Addai and Stephen Banahene but opted to single out Eric Esso as his player of the season for the club.
He added: “Eric Esso is my Ashgold player of the season even though Amos Addai and Stephen Banahene performed wonderfully.”
